[VIRTUAL] Great Big Challah Bake: Traditional

Date: November 3, 2021
Time: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Boulder JCC’s Great Big Challah Bake, presented by the Women of the J, is an annual tradition.  2020 was 100% virtual and we were so happy to bring people together from across the community and the United States.  The virtual programs were so successful because they allowed you to bake at your pace, with your equipment, with your family in the room, or across the country.  On Wednesday, November 3, Challah Bake Co-Chairs Debbie Garelick and Eti Young will teach a traditional challah recipe while you bake along.  This class is geared to bakers of all skill levels.   We will send you the list of ingredients to have ready and the recipe in advance so you can bake with instruction and support to help you create one big beautiful loaf or two smaller loaves. If you don't wish to bake long, you are still welcome to join.  There will be plenty of time to ask Debbie and Eti baking questions.

You will pause to let your dough rise. While the dough is rising Debbie and Eti will offer instruction and a demonstration on how to braid your dough into one big loaf or two smaller loaves. You will be able to bake them later that evening or the next day for Shabbat or any time. This class will run for about 1 hour.

If you are interested in a Gluten-Free recipe please join our virtual Gluten-Free class with Mitten Lowe.  If you are looking for a family option please join our virtual Rainbow class with the Sherwinter Family. If you are looking for an advanced braiding class please join our virtual program with the Challah Prince
