Field Trips at Milk and Honey Farm

On-Site School & Group Visits

We are excited to offer field trips and service-learning opportunities for schools and organizations at Milk and Honey Farm. We invite you and your organization to explore our options listed below to see which best fits the needs and interests of your group. We have a variety of topics on the farm that we can help bring to life for your participants. We look forward to sharing our passion for farming and sustainability with you and learning more about your interests.  Please contact our farm staff who will get in touch with you regarding the next steps.

Farm Visit Options

Farm Tour (30 min)

The 30-minute farm tour is a beautiful opportunity for a more consolidated introduction to the spaces and mission of our farm.  (Free for Non-Profit Organizations, $75 for all other groups).

Farm tour + explore (60 min)

This program is great for anyone, including younger kiddos and the young at heart!  We will spend our time exploring the farm with a focus on sensory exploration of all we can see, smell, touch, hear and taste on the farm. The farm exploration includes time in our geodesic greenhouse as well as visiting the goats, chickens, and fish. A scavenger hunt, seed planting, or other small garden activity is also available.  ($100 for up to 15 participants, additional fee for larger groups).

Farm tour + hands-on activity (90 min)

This is a great option for groups who want to explore the farm and engage in a hands-on activity. Customizable to the interests of your group and available for groups with up to 12 students.  ($150 for up to 12 participants + materials fee, additional fee for larger groups).

DIY offerings include:

  1. Milk & Cheese: Goat milking demonstration and learn how to make & flavor your own (cows milk) cheese with herbs from the farm.
  2. Pickling: learn about vinegar and Lacto fermentation pickles. Harvest veggies from the farm (as seasonally available) and make your own pickles to take home.
  3. Body Products (lotion, salve, deodorant): Learn how to make your own lip balm, lotion/salve, deodorant, or toothpaste! You’ll get to explore the different ways we can customize these products and reduce packaging waste at the same time!
  4. Composting: Learn the ins & outs of composting, soil health, how to reduce waste, and cultivate rich compost of your own by partnering with FBI (Fungus, Bacteria, and Invertebrates). This program includes exploring and taking the temperature of the farm compost pile, playing in the worm bin, and more.

Service-learning volunteer visit + tour (3 hours). Join our farmers and work alongside them on a specific farm project! This visit is ideal for adults or groups of students in grades 6 and above. During your time on the farm, you will receive a farm tour including an overview of our several growing spaces as well as meet our chickens, fish, and goats! Once your group is oriented to our space, we will work on tasks along with our farmers. Projects depend on the season and may include, but are not limited to: composting, seeding, weeding, and planting. (May include a $100 fee, depending on the nature of the group and trip).

Scholarships are available for field trips. We don't want the cost of the field trip to be a financial burden to your organization.
